My future lies in the palm of your hands
Nu har jag skrivit ett Dear Family brev och vill ha konstruktiv kritik! Fire on!
My name is Anneli, I am a happy and cheerful 18 year old economy student and I live in a little town called Tibro in Sweden. If I had to describe myself in three words I would use happy, flexible and ingenious. I graduate from Fågelviksgymnasiet in June this year and after that I want to see the world. Starting with my favourite country no. 1. Britain!
My mum, Agneta (57) is a personal assistant/housewife and my dad (60) is a factory employee. They live in a typical Swedish house, a red house with white gables. They have a lovely cat named Angus.
I have two sisters, Susanne (36) and Angelica (20). Susanne has two boys, Mikael (13) and Daniel (12). I have been looking after both boys’ from time to time since they were just months old. I have changed nappies when they were little, played with them outside and inside, made their dinner, supervised bed time, helped with their homework etc. And since I passed my driving licence test in June 2009, I have been taking them on road trips to amusement parks’, to the see or other fun places.
I love being with children, being outdoors, baking, trying out new recipes, singing, painting, walking, jogging and spend time with good friends and family. I am a real star in the kitchen when it comes to baking. What I am most famous for around my neighbourhood is my cupcakes, carrot cakes and cream cakes.
I have been living on my own since I was 16. I had to move out of my parents’ house to be able to continue my studies at upper secondary school. During these two years that I have lived on my own I have learned to cook, and developed a very big interest in cooking and baking, clean up after myself, wash my own clothes and to be independent. I am very grateful for my parents’ since they let me move when I was just 16 years old. I have grown has a person during these two years and learned that if you want something done, you have to do it yourself.
I would like to be an Au Pair to improve my English, and to get a British accent which I like so much. The reason I want to work as an Au Pair in the UK is, besides of the beautiful language of course, the culture and the people. I have been interested in British history and culture for many years, and every time we get an essay in a subject in school I try to use British history or culture as a foundation. My last essay was about Queen Elisabeth I. I have visited Britain three times now and I have loved every single day I spent in the country. I remember the first time I was in the UK, I visited a friend of mine in Aldershot and I was shocked by how kind British people are compared to Swedes’.
After my year in Britain I hope that I have figured out what I want to do in my life. I will probably go back to Sweden and study, as for now I am choosing between study for a florist, English teacher or a pastry chef. But hopefully, I will stay in the UK and get a job somewhere or continue my studies in the UK instead of in Sweden. If I don’t stay in the UK after my year as an Au Pair, I definitely will go back when I’m done with my studies here in Sweden.
Kind regards,
Anneli Eriksson
